IS YOUR PROGRAM MISSING A CRITICAL KEY TO SUCCESS?

My name is Scott Massey PhD, PA-C, the founder of Student Success Skills. I have been in PA education for 31 years, serving as faculty, program director, and research assessment chair. Additionally, I’ve also had the opportunity work as a success coach for PA students for over 25 years.

My work and focus over the past few years has centered around a disconnect I’m seeing within most PA programs across the country, and that is the fact that many students are not properly prepared or oriented for the rigor of a graduate level PA program.

The problem often goes unidentified, but the symptoms are quite noticeable:

  • Low test scores, particularly PANCE test scores.
  • Higher than normal dropout rates and attrition.
  • Student frustration and lack of confidence.
  • Added confusion and stress for students and staff.

We work with program directors to implement a comprehensive student onboarding and orientation course that is customized to your school. When students have the right tools and resources from the very beginning, the outcomes are significantly and statistically improved.

WITH SOME ATTRITION RATES APPROACHING OR TOPPING 20%, IT’S CLEAR THAT A ONE HOUR WELCOME EVENT IS SIMPLY NOT ENOUGH

Most schools have a short orientation meeting or welcoming event for students, but beyond the “friendly hello” and a few directions and instructions on what to expect, incoming students are not actually given the necessary resources, tools, and skills they need to get up to speed quickly.

If your school happens to have a student success center, that may offer some assistance, but beyond that most students are left to figure most everything out on their own… Thrown in the deep end without a life preserver.

TESTIMONIALS

“Scott Massey’s guidance for our students has been invaluable. We received a 100% PANCE pass rate for our first cohort. We will continue to utilize his services.”

"I learned this valuable lesson under your guidance in PA school and it made all the difference. These skills should be absolutely mandatory for every PA student. I had previously completed doctorate program before going to PA school but was never challenged as much as the PA program. I sincerely hope all PA students access your program. It will make all the difference in surviving and thriving in a program."
